Trisha Lewis, D.V.M.

Dr. Lewis joined Fox Valley Equine Practice in July 2010, after completing a rigorous internship program at Wisconsin Equine Clinic and Hospital in Oconomowoc, WI. This advanced training consisted of equine surgery, field ambulatory medicine, reproduction and internal medicine.

Dr. Lewis grew up in Stuart, Iowa showing Arabians, American Saddlebreds, and National Show Horses. She went to undergraduate school at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa where she majored in Biochemistry, Cellular and Molecular Biology. She earned her Veterinary Degree at Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine, where she was 1 of 2 students chosen from her class to work exclusively with the equine surgeons. Dr. Lewis enjoys all aspects of equine veterinary medicine–especially Sport Horse medicine/ lameness, advanced reproduction techniques such as embryo transfers, frozen and fresh cooled semen artificial insemination, and dentistry.

Dr. Lewis has two mini Australian Shepherds (Tucker and Tyke) and one horse: Tropicana an American Saddlebred. In 2007, Dr. Lewis was named National Champion in 5-Gaited Horsemanship at the National Show Horse Finals. When she has time Dr. Lewis shows Tropicana in the 5-Gaited Country Pleasure Division.

When she is not involved in veterinary medicine, Trisha enjoys riding, spending time with her horses, water skiing, snowmobiling, and spending time with family and friends.
